Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th 1973. Her family was however raised within Charleston West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. She received her degree in chemical engineering to emulate her father. To pursue her acting dream, she decided to move to New York and try her acting career in the world of acting in Hollywood. She worked at a restaurant as well as appearing in Broadway plays. She appeared in as a guest on the television series "Felicity." The show was in this show that she first met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner was given her first major part on the screen in "13 Going on 30", a romantic comedy that was highly acclaimed. She played a teenage girl trapped inside the body of an adult. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to make the movie. They looked for projects that could be made until Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was appointed artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on literacy, nutrition and early childhood education. Garner has served on the board since the year 2014. Garner promotes early childhood educational. She has been visiting families throughout Early Steps to School Success the program created to teach parents how to help their child's development - and act as an advocate.
